How Shall We Live as Spouses of Sexual Abuse Survivors?

When the spouse of a childhood sexual abuse survivor contacts me for the first time, they often say something like, “I don’t know what to do?” My initial response is to begin asking them questions so that I can better understand their story. Every story is unique. But if I listed some fundamental ideas for them to keep in mind, it would be similar to the content of this video.

In this 8-minute video, I offer 6 fundamental principles applied to everyday living for spouses of childhood sexual abuse survivors. The ideas include trauma, empathy, self-awareness, self- development, and advocacy. The content is drawn from my personal experience, what I’ve learned from others, and from my work with husbands of survivors. I believe the ideas presented in this video will help you maintain a healthy focus as you continue your journey.
